Many people in the United States receive their water from private ground water wells. EPA regulations that protect public drinking water systems do not apply to privately owned wells. As a result, owners of private wells are responsible for ensuring that their water is safe from contaminants.
"Indoor radon gas is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the United States and breathing it over prolonged periods can present a significant health risk to families all over the country. It's important to know that this threat is completely preventable. Radon can be detected with a simple test and fixed through well-established venting techniques." U.S Surgeon General Health Advisory, January 2005.
Any home can have a radon problem. This means new and old homes, well-sealed and drafty homes, and homes with or without basements. Nearly 1 out of every 15 homes in the United States is estimated to have an elevated radon level (4 pCi/L or more). Testing is the only way to find out what your home's radon level is.
Having your home inspected prior to the buyer’s inspection provides you with valuable knowledge and helps you to avoid last-minute surprises and negotiations. This also allows you time to shop around for possible estimates according to your timeline, and remove overinflated, buyer-procured estimates from the negotiating table. If you would like to see what a potential buyer’s inspection of your home will uncover and remain in control of your price point, we would be glad to help.
If you desire only a particular portion or area of the home be inspected, we can inspect as little or as much as you'd like. Call and let us know how we can help!
